RIMM
(Rambus Inline Memory Module)
The
memory module used with RDRAM chips. It is similar to a DIMM package but uses different pin settings. Rambus
trademarked the term RIMM as an entire word which is the trademark of Kingston Technology Corp.
It is the term used for a module using Rambus technology.
In a computer, a RIMM is a memory module developed by Kingston Technology Corp. that takes up
less space inside the computer than the older DIMM module and has different PIN characteristics. A RIMM has a 184-pin connector

DDR & DDR2 (Double data rate)
Double
data rate (DDR) SDRAM memory is an evolutionary design of standard SDRAM in which data is transferred
twice as quickly. A DDR
has a 184-pin connector. A DDR2 has a 240-pin connector. PC 1600, PC 2100, PC2700 and PC3200 or
200Mhz, 266Mhz, 333Mhz, 400Mhz are available

DDR3
DDR3 is the latest JEDEC memory standard. It enables higher levels of performance along with lower power consumption and higher reliability than DDR2. JEDEC began working on the DDR3 specification in June of 2002, and the first DDR3 memory modules and supporting chipsets were released for Intel-based systems in mid-2007. A DDR3 has a 240-pin connector.
